A deep, vulnerable and intimate song that Cameron wrote after got out of rehab, remembering how he felt when he was in his addiction. In many interviews, he said that “Helpless”, is a prelude of this journey in his addiction, that he’ll recount in all his next songs.
[Verse 1]
I've fallen in love
With feeling helpless, I know it's not healthy
And I know that it's hard
This cycle I'm in is takin' all my energy
[Pre-Chorus]
I've been hurtin', takin' in this pain
And hoping that it kills me
I can see on my face, in the mirror
I'm not happy and-
[Chorus]
I-I, I'm gonna need some help
And I-I, I haven't been myself
I've been drinkin' too much
Smokin' all night
Messing with the wrong girls
Nothing feels right
Every time I go out, someone wants to pick a fight
Spend all of my money, I guess my momma was right, yeah
I-I, I'm gonna need some help
[Verse 2]
I’ve had decent luck
At hiding all this darkness, inside me
And I wish on every star, that one day I can stop
I think I've had enough
[Pre-Chorus]
I've been hurtin', takin' in this pain
And hoping that it kills me
I can see on my face, in the mirror
I'm not happy and-
[Chorus]
I-I, I'm gonna need some help
And I-I, I haven't been myself
I've been drinkin' too much
Smokin' all night
Messing with the wrong girls
Nothing feels right
Every time I go out, someone wants to pick a fight
Spend all of my money, I guess my momma was right, yeah
I-I, I'm gonna need some help
And I-I, I haven't been myself
[Outro]
I, I
I, I
