“Hell of It” is the third single released from Beartooth’s 2021 album, Below.
The lyrics describe living in a state of torture. The singer taunts their tormentor, asking why they do it.
[Intro]
Welcome back, you couldn't resist
Planting seeds of denial till you reap the harvest
Take it all, I barely exist
Rip the flesh off my bones, make a feast of my carcass
Ah
[Verse 1]
It's a habitual ritual of the darkness
Waking up with my eyes sewn shut
All my nerves are frozen solid
I can never get out until you take your cut
[Pre-Chorus]
Take it all, I barely exist
Take it all, I barely exist
[Chorus]
Why am I a dreamer? I can't take this
You dig a little deeper just for the hell of it
Why am I a dreamеr? I can't take this
You dig a little deeper just for thе hell of it
[Verse 2]
I can't discern the shapes I'm seeing
So out of phase with the state I'm in
At least my heart is finally pounding
I love the taste of my own medicine
[Pre-Chorus]
Take it all, I barely exist
Take it all, I barely exist
[Chorus]
Why am I a dreamer? I can't take this
You dig a little deeper just for the hell of it
Why am I a dreamer? I can't take this
You dig a little deeper just for the hell of it
[Bridge]
Take it all, I barely exist
Take it all, I barely exist
Take it all, I barely exist
Rip the flesh off my bones, make a feast of my carcass
[Breakdown]
Oh
[Chorus]
Why am I a dreamer? I can't take this
You dig a little deeper just for the hell of it
Why am I a dreamer? I can't take this
You dig a little deeper just for the hell of it
[Outro]
Just for the hell of it
