Headed For The Wild

Light my last cigarette, a lucky for the road
Headed back out west, leaving El Paso
Flattops on the rearview for many a mile
Got no directions, I’m just headed for the wild

Through Silver City, then straight out to the desert
Not chasin’ anything but the good summer weather
Summer will go in late September
But I’m gon’ chase the sunlight till late December

So don’t take me where the clouds are
I just wanna see the light
Take me to the place where the hills and stars collide
We ain’t got much of it, so this is how I bide my time
Out on the open road, I’m headed for the wild

I get the feeling the further that I roll
With every mile, the road, it feels like home
And as I ride New Mexico 9
I can see for miles down a blacktop line

So don’t take me where the clouds are

Watched the sun fall out in Utah
Saw the stars glow in Colorado
I don’t care where I go
