The stars are falling upon your page in ink and stone –

The stones are broken to sand that cloaks the sleep that 'cumbers your weary load –

But there, there were seen such painted sides of page
Behind the shapes the colors will erase
So quick your hand to scrawl the shapes in place –

Beneath the hand did whiten and erase –

And suddenly the black and scattered lines did fall away –
The shade of pen and stone did deeply sink into refrain –
The chorusing of colors burst as from a page
As lightning in the rain -
And as though in dream she whispered soft and felt them seen…
