One of songwriter Sam Cromack’s favourite songs from the album, “Harbour of Lame Ducks” was described by him as “an ode to all the people who are doing it a bit rough” and stems from a meeting with homeless people where the band played basketball with them on the streets.
[Verse 1]
Broken cones, I hide and hang my eyes
I make my last move in the violet skies
I'm horny, hungry, hopeful for your hand
A plastic bag's no suitcase for my man
[Chorus]
Harbour of lame ducks, tiny little group of us
Turning your hearts to mush
I was happy when I scored, straight off the backboard
Into the bin that day
[Verse 2]
Take a moment, take two days, take years
Indifference is a virtue amongst your peers
So happy, healthy, humble as we speak
The streets are filled with ordinary peeps
[Chorus]
But the harbour of lame ducks, tiny little group of us
Turning your hearts to mush
I was happy when I scored, straight off the backboard
Into the bin that day
Harbour of lame ducks, tiny little group of us
Turning your hearts to mush
I was happy when I scored, straight off the backboard
Into the bin that day
Harbour of lame ducks, tiny little group of us
Turning your hearts to mush
I was happy when I scored, straight off the backboard
Into the bin that day

I wrote it after I had a big chat with a homeless man in Brisbane. The harbour of lame ducks refers to outcast people. The ‘tiny little group of us’ bit refers to another group of homeless people I saw having a good time in a park in St Kilda. They were actually playing basketball into a bin. – Sam...
