[Verse 1]
Hangtown
Sing a final song
It's called the tree from which you hang
Has done no wrong
Hangtown
The birds have not yet gone
They're waitin' round to see
You fly on
[Chorus]
Those sorry cardboard cowboys
Tried to run you out of town
For trying to turn your dreams
Into a song
[Instrumental Break]
[Chorus]
Those scented candle cowboys
Tried to run you out of town
For trying to turn your dreams
Into a song
[Verse 2]
Hangtown
It's like you're on a bike
With less that kick and pedal toward the light
Hangtown
You did the best you could
Now forgive them all, they know not what they do
Forgive them all, for they were once good too
Forgive us all, we know not what we do
[Outro]
