HALLOWEEEN MOVIE NIGHT

Scene: Emily's living room, decorated with a variety of Halloween costumes and decorations. A TV is set up with Stephen King’s “Carrie” cued up in the DVD player. The lights are dimmed as the group settles in for a spooky movie night.

Emily: Welcome, everyone! Thanks for coming over for our fall movie night.

Sarah: (nervously) Uh, Emily, are you sure we should be watching “Carrie”? I heard it's really scary.

John: (excitedly) That's the whole point, Sarah! Stephen King is the king of horror and “Carrie” is one of his best.

Jason: (grinning) Yeah, Sarah, you might want to close your eyes during the really scary parts.

Sarah: (rolling her eyes) Ugh, you guys are no help.

Emily: Don’t worry, Sarah. We'll all be here to protect you. Now, let's start the movie!

(As the movie begins, the group huddles closer together on the couch. Sarah jumps at every suspenseful moment, while John shouts out theories about what might happen next. Jason occasionally makes jokes about the characters on screen.)

(Suddenly, during the famous prom scene, the power goes out and the room is plunged into darkness. Emily screams.)

Emily: What just happened?

John: (calmly) It's probably just a power outage. Let me go check the breaker.

(John gets up and walks out of the room, leaving everyone else in anxious silence. A minute later, John returns to the living room.)

John: (grinning) I'm just messing with you guys! I unplugged the TV.

Sarah: (panting) Jason, you scared me so much!

Jason: (chuckling) Gotcha!

Emily: (laughing) Oh my gosh, you guys. That was too funny.

John: I guess we should finish the movie now, huh?

(They all settle back onto the couch and watch the rest of “Carrie” with heightened adrenaline and a newfound appreciation for the horror genre.)

Emily: (turning on the lights as the credits roll) That was an intense movie.

Sarah: (sighing with relief) I'm so glad it's over.

John: Are you kidding? That was amazing. I'm already thinking about what we should watch next.

Jason: (smirking) How about “It”?

(They all groan in fake protest, but secretly can’t wait for their next horror movie night.)
