[Intro: Heath McNease]
So I was reading my favorite book the other day. You might have heard of it; it's called the Bible. If you have it, you should check it out. Anyways, the story I was reading went a little something like this (ahem):
[Hook]
It's the good Samaritan get down
All you bad Samaritans sit down
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
It's the good Samaritan get down
All you bad Samaritans sit down
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
[Verse 1: Heath McNease]
Ever been assaulted?
Ever been halted by a pistol-packing
Pack of people looking for wallets?
Ever been struck?
Ever been stuck?
Clothes ever been shucked, left in the buck
Half dead in the muck?
Lispin' cause your lip's been kicked in and
Not to mention your fronts are missing and
Passed by by the likes of a Levite and priest
We might just be the guys you need
We be the readers of theses of Jesus
Masters of meekness--cheek-turnin' ain't weakness
You can bet that this New Testament
Salute will exude true relevance:
All supposed to be called to clothe and feed all the folks
Who need hope to breathe
We're all supposed to be called to clothe and feed all the folks who need hope to breathe
[Hook]
It's the good Samaritan get down
All you bad Samaritans sit down
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
It's the good Samaritan get down
All you bad Samaritans sit down
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
[Verse 2: Playdough]
Downtown he was found with a cardboard seat
On the street where the church and the carport meet
He was weak, he was feeble on his feet, at the steeple he would greet
God's people didn't speak not a peep (yo)
Looking for a handout, happenstance
Got him begging and nobody knows his circumstance
Look at his shirt and pants it's all dirt and stamps
It's hunched over, hunchback
And at first to glance he's a loser, a boozer
They cursed and cussed him
No eye contact, and God-forbid touch him
Needs? Man, indeed yo, he's got a whole bunch
But they're busy heading out to lunch (rrright)
Hand-in-hand with children, taught if he might talk, keep your face and your eyes glued on the sidewalk
Hey, churchboy I guess you're doing just fine
Read Proverbs 31, verse six through nine
[Hook]
It's the good Samaritan get down
All you bad Samaritans sit down
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
It's the good Samaritan get down
All you bad Samaritans sit down
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
[Verse 3: Heath McNease]
We're not sent to diss you
Dismember you
Return you to sender and limit you
Too many are against you
Many men will attempt to kick you
Tick you off, flick you off tick and kick your dogs
And say words that would make a sailor say
"Sir, take your anger and place it on paper"
They take you to the edge, then they push you off it
They'll pick your door locks and your pockets
But that's when we arrive in the nick of time
This clique of mine with a parable to stick in your mind
Look and you'll find, the calling is divine
Not just a verse or a rhyme rehearsed to kill time
[Hook]
It's the good Samaritan get down
All you bad Samaritans sit down
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
It's the good Samaritan get down
All you bad Samaritans sit down
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
If you're a do-gooder, good-doer, do it gooder
Heath McNease released Good Samaritan Get Down on Tue Apr 24 2007.
