[Intro]
Where do all the good guys go
It’s all I wanna know
Where’s the one I wanna find
I mean I’ve been doing fine but I
[Verse 1]
You know you keep me up when you’re going up without me
You know it’s wearing me down when you act tough around me
You know I’m breaking my back to try and keep you coming back to me
[Pre-Chorus]
You know I’m breaking my back
You know I’m breaking my back
You know I’m breaking my back
[Chorus]
Where do all the good guys go
It’s all I wanna know
Where’s the one I wanna find
I mean I’ve been doing fine but I
Where do all the good guys go
It’s all I wanna know (Where they go, where they go)
Where’s the one I wanna find
I mean I’ve been doing fine but I
(I wouldn’t mind)
[Verse 2]
I try to keep you up so you’re having fun around me
And all the things you say they fill me and you surround me
You know I’m breaking my back to try and make sure you’re still happy with me
[Pre-Chorus]
You know I’m breaking my back
You know I’m breaking my back
You know I’m breaking my back
[Chorus]
Where do all the good guys go
It’s all I wanna know
Where’s the one I wanna find (Wanna find)
I mean I’ve been doing fine but I (I wouldn’t mind, wouldn’t mind, wouldn’t mind)
Where do all the good guys go (Where they go)
It’s all I wanna know (I wanna know, I wanna know, I wanna know)
Where’s the one I wanna find (Wanna find)
I mean I’ve been doing fine but I
I wouldn’t mind, wouldn’t mind, wouldn’t mind

I wrote and recorded Good Guys Go in my bedroom one day. I used two drum loops and one synth for the whole song. It was one of those writing/recording experiences where I could hear really clearly where I wanted to take it, so I just kept going without a break. By the time I left my room the song wa...
I’d been reading about emotional labour and reflecting on some of the relationships friends around me were in. I’d see these situations where friends were working so much harder than their male partners to keep the relationship afloat.
I started with the drum loop and the chords on the organ which I played in on my Alessis synth. It was already feeling really good so I didn’t want to clutter it with any unnecessary instrumentation. I recorded in the intro vocal melody then went straight in and layered it up with harmonies – I ende...
