[Verse 1]
I'm done bowing to these golden calfs
Trying to justify 'em when I know they won't last
What first caught my eye has started to fade
And I'm done bowing to these gods I've made
[Verse 2]
I'm done bowing to a nation's flag
There's no freedom in a gospel like that
If every people and tongue are made to sing out your praise
Then I'm done bowing to these gods I've made
[Chorus]
Throw 'em all in the fire
'Cause they won't last anyway
Throw 'em all in the fire
Till You're the One that remains
Throw 'em all in the fire
And let my selfish pride go down in flames
I'm done bowing to these gods I've made
[Verse 3]
I'm done bowing to these stained glass rooms
We've turned Your bride into a white-washed tomb
Building steeples and walls when religion won't save
Oh, I'm done bowing to these gods I've made
[Chorus]
We throw 'em all in the fire
'Cause they won't last anyway
Throw 'em all in the fire
Till You're the One that remains
Throw 'em all in the fire
Let my selfish pride go down in flames
I'm done bowing to these gods I've made
[Interlude]
Ooh
Yeah, I'm done, oh, I'm done, yeah
Ooh
[Verse 4]
God, I'm sorry for this mess I made
Chasing idols, giving them Your name
But You pour out forgiveness
Yeah, You wash me in grace
You're so much better than these gods I made
You're so much better than these gods I made
Oh, You're so much better God, oh
[Outro]
So much better
So much better

Joshua Nichols released Gods I’ve Made on Fri Apr 05 2024.
This is the first collaboration between Josh Nichols and Chris Renzema, but is not the first with Temitope Peters. The two co-wrote Peters’s song “OH MY SWEET COMFORTER”.
The day the song was released, Nichols posted on his Instagram Story lightheartedly joking that he was so independent that he didn’t have anyone to correct him about the punctuation. That same day he submitted the edit and it was changed a few days later.
The meaning of “Gods I’ve Made” by Josh Nichols is addressing personal idolatry. Many Christians struggle with very similar things Israel did in the Old Testament of the Bible, which is giving their attention to creations rather than the One who created all things (Romans 1:25-26). At the end of the...
