As a child, I was frightened
When someone put out the light
I thought those dark, evil demons
Only ever came out at night
Now I wake up in the morning
Can't keep them demons at bay
I look in the mirror frightened by the light of the day
Frightened by the light of the day
I made a cross once to chase them away
I prayed to God, but even he was afraid
Somebody help me
I can't stand this emptiness
I've known your love
And I need it to survive
I'm sound in body and sound in mind
But this emptiness
Like some disease, it eats away inside
I am frightened of dying
I'm afraid for my soul
Afraid of where it is hiding
Afraid of where it will go
I am frightened of knowing
But more afraid not to know
If I chose this life
I chose it from the very back row
I chose it from the very back row
I made a cross once to chase them away
I prayed to God, but even he was afraid
Somebody help me
I can't stand this emptiness
I've known your love
And I need it to survive
I'm sound in body and sound in mind
But this emptiness
Like some disease, it eats away inside
As a child, I was frightened
When someone put out the light
I thought those dark, evil demons
Only ever came out at night
Now I wake up in the morning
Can't keep them demons at bay
I look in the mirror frightened by the light of the day
Frightened by the light of the day
Frightened by the light of the day
