Omar Apollo * Track #3 On Friends

Friends Lyrics

[Verse 1]
You know, I thought that we could be friends
But now I’m caught up in this mess
I can’t pretend, that I don’t feel this
'Cause if I don’t, it’ll leave me depressed
And I know it don’t make no sense
But I’m getting used to this
And I’m older now, but I’m still young
And I got many, oh many years to come

[Chorus]
You just thought I just wanted to be friends
You just thought I just wanted to be friends

[Verse 2]
And I never said it out loud
I’d end up looking like the fool
Am I the only one afraid to make a move
Maybe you're feeling what I’m feeling, too
And I know it don’t make no sense
But I’m getting used to this
And I’m older now, but I’m still young
And I got many, oh, many years to come

[Chorus]
You just thought I just wanted to be friends
You just thought I just wanted to be friends

[Bridge]
And I’m older now, but I’m still young
And I got many, oh, many years to come

[Chorus]
You just thought I just wanted to be friends
You just thought I just wanted to be friends
You just thought I just wanted to be friends
You just thought I just wanted to be friends

I was in the car with one of my friends. We went to Dunkin Donuts to get some hashbrowns and came back. My frien...

What inspired it?

I was in Indiana. I was just heartbroken over not telling someone how I felt and just letting it build up over time. And yeah, it’s about just having that friend title but having it one-sided. One side is platonic, one side is romantic, you know? That’s what inspired that.

What was the process of making the song like?

I was supposed to work on another song with John Shanks and then we ended up working on it for an hour and then I was just like I’m not feeling it. He was like “What? I flew out here to work on it?” and I was like “I’m sorry.” So, I just whipped out my laptop, and I had this file like the first vers...
