“Friends” is a song about quite a typical but important topic – about ending, or as Edgars says “losing” relationship and so – about a broken heart. The song is based on the very cliché phrase “Can we stay friends?” and many references of the famous series “Friends”.
Sometimes you can’t see
What’s been in front of your eyes all the time
I’ve been looking too far
Through binoculars in my head
Oh, I wish we had ended up together
Made kids and walked dogs forever
But you made up your mind
To escape the riptide that brought us together
You said we could still be friends
But we’ll never be like
Chandler, Joe, Phoebe and Monica
Chandler, Joe, Phoebe and Monica
Now I feel like I’m hypnotised
Cos every time I close my eyes
I see the smile I adore
But it's not funny anymore
You broke my wings and now I hear voices that sing
Good luck next time
And every little thing around me
Makes me wanna moonwalk back to the place
Where you said we could still be friends
But we’ll never be like
Chandler, Joe, Phoebe and Monica
