[Verse 1]
Lemme tell you a little story ‘bout a kid I once knew
He was a happy, smart boy who studied hard in school
Most of the kids knew him, and we thought he was cool
Always saying “Hi”, and waving in his Converse shoes
He took six APs, ‘cause he loved to lead
There wasn't a single textbook that he couldn’t read
Stayed up all night studying, sacrificing his sleep
He never got a single letter grade below a B
On the weekends, when we were out partying
He would be on his living room piano practicin'
Actually, he went to one party reluctantly
Didn't seem to fit in, so he left immediately
Comes back home to have his parents question him
Asking him where he’s been, or if he's done any sins
He told them he was outside partying with his friends
Then his parents snapped, and told him “Studying is your only friend!”
[Verse 2]
Monday comes around and he does his routine
Looks outside, and the sky is looking really cloudy
He grabs his backpack and glances at his metal CDs
Does his homework while running, ‘cause straight As are his needs
He starts to realize he doesn't have many friends
‘Cause he spends most of his time writing notes with a pen
Goes to the bathroom to find some kids with these meds
Said it was Adderall, helps him focus his head
One hit he got hooked, he started feeling really shook
Fuck the books, he wanted to keep popping pillies, getting cooked
Helped relieve the stress and forget his parents
He's obsessed, loved to care about his grades even less
He was no longer the kid who always smiled through the halls
Now he's the kid dealing heavy drugs within stalls
Teachers start to write him up for missing roll calls
While he's standing outside smokin' joints against the wall
[Verse 3]
Corruption takes the reigns while he's sitting in the rain
Police caught his supplier, now he might be goin’ insane
He’s missed school for two weeks now he's feeling all the shame
Digs his razor deep as he feels the high of the pain
The high was short lived though, he wanted something more
Wanted something stronger, something that could be his cure
In his room he knew there was a little something left for sure
Locked the door, ‘cause he didn’t want his parents to hear his roars
His hands begin to shake, as his mind begins to quake
He's awake, hasn't gotten sleep for three straight days (yeah)
“Addie, addie, addie!”, that's all his mind can say
Then the Devil appeared and said, “I know you are afraid”
[Verse 4]
“Take my hand, I can help relieve your suffering
No one really loves you, and the end is just slowly approaching
I’ve been watching you, the light in your heart is quickly closing
I'll consume your soul, and I can end this dark mourning”
The boy agreed, and the Devil finally took over
He looked to his left and saw an orange pill container
Three pills left, he swallowed them without any water
The sudden high rushed to his head, and he finally felt better
Two hours later when the sky began to darken
Felt the need for more as his poor soul felt broken
Hopeless, was what he felt as his life started slowin'
He knew at this point he wasn't going to heaven
[Verse 5]
His parents banged on the door to please let them in
But little did they know what their boy has been doin'
They finally burst through to see their son on the floor
Dark bags drag his eyes, lookin' pale and so cold
The parents quickly dialed a 911
And the ambulance came to grab their sickened son
Took a diagnostic and figured out it was drugs
He could've overdosed and then his life would've been done
[Break]
After he recovered, he still made a pact
The Devil got him with another clear Adderall sac
His parents yelled at him and screamed at him for being so bad
Little did they know they made him feel even more sad
“The time has finally come”, the Devil whispered in his ear
He closed his eyes and saw his life flash throughout the years (yeah)
Birthdays, hangouts, kisses, memories, and cheers
“Do it!”, said the Devil and screams from hell he could hear!
[Verse 6]
He grabbed his wooden chair from under his desk
He knew what he was doing was a really daunting risk
His eyes are fixed, inside he's feeling really sick
His razor flicks his skin as his blood pours in the thick
Grabbed the rope he used for his treehouse outside
Super focused on this task, but the rope he finally tied
He looked into the rope and then he slowly cried
The Devil smiled back at him and said, “At last it is time”
Young eighteen year old boy then stepped on the chair
Tied the rope to his ceiling fan thinking life isn't fair
His friends are living a life that he can't compare
So what's his life worth if his parents aren't even there?
Wrapped the rope around his neck and slowly it tightened
He took his last breath of oxygen, feeling so frightened
He took one step in his Converse shoes, feeling so beaten
And then his body slumped over, sadly now he's forgotten
