Fire on the Highway is the group’s first single after their rebranding and is the lead single from their debut EP, El Compadre. It was released February 8, 2018.
[Verse 1]
Room to wander, open road
Mile marker, cruise control
Strobing headlights, passing cars
Constellations, shooting stars
[Pre-Chorus]
Pedal to the metal and I'm feeling alright
Streetlights are blending with the pale moonlight
[Chorus]
Fire on the highway (wide awake)
Music on the airwaves (woah)
Hand out the window, gonna feel the cool night (oh, oh, oh, woah)
Imma keep driving for the rest of my life (oh, oh, oh, woah)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
[Verse 2]
Fueled by wonder, compass rose
Where I'm headed, I don't know
But I'm never stopping, insomniac
Rearview mirror, no looking back
[Pre-Chorus]
Pedal to the metal and I'm feeling alright
Streetlights are blending with the pale moonlight
[Chorus]
Fire on the highway (wide awake)
Music on the airwaves (woah)
Hand out the window, gonna feel the cool night (oh, oh, oh, woah)
Imma keep driving for the rest of my life (oh, oh, oh, woah)
[Pre-Chorus]
Pedal to the metal and I'm feeling alright
Streetlights are blending with the pale moonlight
[Chorus]
Fire on the highway (wide awake)
Music on the airwaves (woah)
Hand out the window, gonna feel the cool night (oh, oh, oh, woah)
Imma keep driving for the rest of my life (oh, oh, oh, woah)

Our producer and friend Riley flew out to meet up with us on tour to write. (We were on warped tour and had a day off.) We were in Reno at a casino. Anyway he had this little 8 bar beat that his friend Kevin had been kicking around and Riley showed it to us. We started singing some melodies and on...
Well to write a song you would hear in a John Hughes movie. Like Breakfast club. It had that feel and it’s about when you get your drivers license and you have that freedom to go anywhere and listen to music with the windows down as loud as possible. It’s about being in the moment and carefree.
We were on tour and we wrote this song on the bus in the back lounge. So it was also us wanting to have a little freedom and get out of a casino parking lot haha. We had been listening to a lot of 80s bands and we had just listen to this song called ( I can’t wait) by the band Nu Shooz. They did thi...
