The ninth track on Balance of Power, Endless Lies was intended to be released on 1983’s Secret Messages, but due to the album being cut from a double album to a single album, the song wasn’t included on the final release. The lyrics were changed and the song was released on 1986’s Balance of Power.
[Verse 1]
Bye-bye, pretty woman
I've got to leave you now
I find you never really cared
[Chorus]
Stand back, take a look at you
You couldn't care if you wanted to
You keep saying it's gonna change
But every time it comes back again
It's a merry-go-round
[Post-Chorus]
Endless lies shine in your eyes
[Verse 2]
It's all right, count to ten
It will all be better then
It's all right, the world will go away
[Chorus]
Stand back, take a look at you
You couldn't care if you wanted to
You keep saying it's gonna change
But every time it comes back again
It's a merry-go-round
[Bridge]
Endless lies, I can see it in your eyes
The heartbreak is, if you could only see
That's not the way it's supposed to be
Endless tears that flowed through the years
You take it all, and then you take some more
Then you come running back to me
[Verse 3]
Play on, pretty music
Play on and on for me
Shine on, silver stars
Over the sea
[Outro]
Endless lies, I can see it in your eyes
The heartbreak is, if you could only see
That's not the way it's supposed to be
Endless lies shine in your eyes
