Echoes

I used to capture moments
And I'd stretch them so they'd last
Feel like a caged animal
A lion under glass
Seizing situations
And squeezing 'til they burst
Harnessing my energy
And then embracing all the worst

Now I hear that thunder
And it echoes through my mind
Calls me back to the wilderness
The one I left behind
I somehow sensed that a stranger
Who used to be my friend
Wants to take me away
He doesn't know that I'm a prisoner

Then one day I noticed
My desire to create
Had been replaced by the feeling
That I was running late
I got a job at a factory
And I laid to rest my brain
Decided that a man was only
Worth his material gain

I still hear that thunder
It echoes through my mind
Calls me back to the wilderness
The one I left behind
I somehow sense that a stranger
Who used to be my friend
Wants to take me away
He doesn't know that I'm a prisoner
