My brothers and I one day
Started the car and drove away
Algonquin Park by noon
We’d be paddling soon on the rivers

The radio had warned a storm
Was heading north where we were going
Our spirits were high
Words of caution slipped by in our laughter

We’d passed a cairn of a man did drown

The locals said it strange
