I went walking after dark
By Tompkins Square Park
Thought I'd escape the cold and get a bite to eat
Walked into a little spot
Steamed up windows on the block
Over on East 7th Street
She sits alone in an East Side restaurant
I wonder - is that what she really wants
I can sense the chemistry
She can see right through me
In a single glare, she sets me floating on thin air
Why does she look at me that way
So I try to keep my cool
Double taking like a fool
Don't let this stop before it's even begun
Your presence brings me higher
Above the candle fire
I wonder - am I the only one
She sits alone in an East Side restaurant
I wonder - if that's what she really wants
I can sense the chemistry
She can see right through me
Let me tell you
I can see she could see
She can feel the chemistry
We walked out in the rain
Tried to keep each other dry
Chance to touch - we couldn't resist
We knew that we'd be back here soon
Over on East 7th Street
I can sense our chemistry
She can see right through me
I can feel it
Let me tell you
I can see she could see
The real me, the real me
She can feel the chemistry
Chemistry
I can see
Chemistry
