“Done Most Everything” is the final track on C.C. Adcock’s 1994 eponymous debut album. It features a spoken-word guest appearance by Tommy McLain toward the end. Its general theme is that Adcock, overwhelmed by his newfound fame, wishes he could just go back home to small-town Louisiana.
[Verse 1]
Well, I've been livin' [?] him
To the [?] great cloud
Drivin' 20 heads and problem
With that Dallas touchdown
And a 747
And put me LA bound
To a West Coast and rock 'n' roll
Inside the night crowd
I'm gonna turn 'em up to 10
I'm gonna play it real loud
'Cause the young kids really dig that rockin'
Gulf coast sound
[Chorus]
I've done most everything, just makin'
Twenty years old
When them bright lights go down
Big city ain't my town
Oh, I just wanna go home, yeah
[Verse 2]
Well that diver waitin' for me, yeah, at the
Terminal gate
With my fleet of Eldorados parked
Because my last place
And they rest me at the cruise shop
To my Hollywood state
Prob'ly rush me through my dinner
Just to make the show by 8
But I'm gonna fight along with anyone
That won't treat me my age
Well, they don't mind me kissing them pretty
Young girls backstage
[Chorus]
'Cause I've done most everything, just makin'
Twenty years old
Well, them bright lights go down
Big city ain't my town
Oh, I just wanna go home
[Instrumental break]
Well, my feets, they tired from dancin' on
Too many floors
And my hands are weighted down with all these
Rings of silver and gold
And I just got back from another
Trip around the world
Where I kissed so many womens
Lord, my heart, it done run cold
Yeah, I done a lotta things would make a
Lot of people's soul
Take a Bible for the present just to
Save my young soul
Lord, I gotta slow down before I
I grow too old
Bright lights go down
Big city ain't down hometown
Oh, I just wanna go home
[Instrumental break]
Well, Lord, I gotta slow down before I
I grow too old
So prolly turn this bird around
And land us back in a Flat Town
Oh, I just wanna go home, yeah
[Instrumental break]
[Spoken]
Oh, I gotta get back to ya, Tommy
Tommy McLain:
Oh, come on home, son
To LA on the coast
CC:
What coast? Not the West Coast?
Tommy:
No, the Gulf Coast, my boy!
CC:
Aw ye-yeah!
West Coast
Tommy:
My boy!
CC:
