[Verse 1]
I just can't win, see it in my soul
I need somethin' more than faith, I need a miracle
No, I can't hide, nowhere to go
I see the signs there on your face, you need to let me know
[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause I kept givin' you chances but you took advantage
And it's bad for my health (For my health)
But I keep letting you in, love
Is there something I did wrong?
Am I all in my head? (All in my head)
[Chorus]
Could you stay? Don't leave (Don't leave)
Let me know that our time wasn't wasted
Would you lay (Would you lay) now here with me? (Now here with me?)
And tell me there's more to this story
No I'm like, what you need?
Let me go before you destroy me
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Let me go before you destroy me
[Verse 2]
But you seen I need anything
Just a mattress on the floor inside your living room
Breakfast in bed, sleep in 'til three
But I only see a face inside my memory
[Pre-Chorus]
I kept givin' you chances but you took advantage
And it's bad for my health (For my health)
But I keep letting you in, love
Is there something I did wrong?
Am I all in my head? (All in my head)
[Chorus]
Could you stay? (Could you stay?) Don't leave (Don't leave)
Let me know that our time wasn't wasted
Would you lay (Would you lay) now here with me? (Now here with me?)
And tell me there's more to this story
No I'm like, what you need?
Let me go before you destroy me
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Let me go before you destroy me
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Let me go before you destroy me

The song came together back in February of 2021. Through our teams, Peter Fenn and I got in a session and pretty much started talking about what was on my mind while he played some piano chords. We started there and eventually, I found the main thesis for what the song was going to be about: needing...
This song was inspired by the relationships most of us often find ourselves in, where we give so much of ourselves to the other person it becomes unhealthy. To the point beyond tipping, where you’re falling and can’t save yourself.
Despite this song having a deeply emotional tone to it, the session was actually quite fun and was full of laughter. I can recall a specific circumstance where my manager Alex, Peter, and I got in the booth and recorded the gang vocals you hear in the main part of the hook, “oh woah, oh woah”.
