About

In contrast to learning Old Testament accounts in isolation, this song shows how redemptive events – such as the Flood, the Exodus, the Crossing of the Jordan River, Jonah in the fish, Christ’s baptism, His calming of the stormy-seas, and His death, resurrection, and Second Coming – are all unified...

Death & Resurrection Pt. 3 - Water Judgment Lyrics

[Intro]
Turn this joint up, Joe! Come on
Yeah, rowdy!
Behold the waters of judgment from Yahweh the living God
Who judges his enemies with the waters of judgment
As he save his people through the waters of death (baptism!)
Now let's do a biblical theology of water judgement
Check it out now (rowdy!)

[Verse 1]
As we get in the text of Genesis 6, it's mentioning this:
All of men's intentions are sick (Gen 6:5)
The earth's full of hurtful cursed souls
So God brings about de-creation, creation reversal
Cause the world he made he then floods
To judge men 'cause of what their heart of sin does
The whole world gets judged
Second Peter 3:6 even calls it "the world that then was"
The worst deluge, its burst was huge
To purge remove from the earth the serpent's brood
Every person who spurned the truth
Including spurning Noah's preached word, they heard it too (2 Pet 2:5)
Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters
Wouldn't love or honor the one who shines the sun upon ya
They're judged with the flood of a lot of tons of water
Almost every single one's a goner
But when God judges his enemies
He always saves his people with loving redemptive deeds
So with Yahweh, Noah finds favor (Gen 6:8)
Unmerited, electing, accepting grace bruh
Yahweh tells him start making a tevah
The Hebrew word for "ark" to be saved from his anger
So Noah's justified by faith in the Savior (Heb 11:7)
It's the covenant of grace from the Recreator
Demolished all flesh, the earth washed of its mess
Noah and his family saved through the waters of death
All of them, he was saving through identification
With Noah in union in him they were safe then
New creation, the ruach spirit hovered
Over the earth that's covered then we see the dove bird
Noah's sacrifice, a pleasing aroma
Showing that it satisfied appeasing Jehovah
That word for pleasing means appeasement niychoach
It's related to Noah's name which is Noach
Brought safely through God's holy wrath living
It's safe to call it a household baptism (oh snap!) (1 Pet 3:20-21)

[Hook]
Behold Yahweh's waters of judgement
Be full of awe from his justice
When he saves his people, he'll judge his enemies
His acts of judgment have corresponding redemptive deeds
Behold Yahweh's waters of judgement
Be full of awe from his justice
Since his people pass through the waters of death then
It's nothing short of a death and a resurrection

[Verse 2]
Let's jump to Exodus, once inspecting this
We see the recapitulation of the flooded Genesis
'Cause Yahweh's set to judge his nemesis
Plus show his people the essence of what redemption is
When it comes to salvation in the Old Testament
Behold, the Exodus is the one famous
Amongst pagans and much nations (Josh. 2: 10; Ex. 15: 14-15)
See the Exodus is described with flood language
Pharaoh king of Egypt's the foulest sinner
Orders Hebrew boys be drowned in the Nile River (Exo 1:22)
But when a certain Hebrew slaves in labor
By faith she refuses to be a baby slayer (Heb 11:23)
So instead she makes a tevah
Which is an ark to save her baby Moses from danger (Exo 2:3)
Covered it with pitch, it echoes back to Noah
Plus previews Israel's rescue by Jehovah
Pharaoh regrets he let free Moses and Israel go
So he pursues them to the Red Sea
Moses on the edge he stretched the
Staff of God so the Red Sea became a spread sea
All of Israel crossed without a wet knee
But the Egyptians couldn't cross it with a jetski
'Cause fighting Yahweh's glory is deadly
So God made the chariots wheels heavy (Exo 14:25)
That's the word for glory and weightiness
Yahweh's killing them with his glory because they're hating his
Pharaoh and his legions, chariots of Egypt
Perishing like seamen or mariners on seaships
Buried in the deep quick, gasping on the sea floor
While Israel passes by, they're scattered on the seashore
Like at the flood how the waters had subsided (Gen 8:21)
By the ruach spirit here the waters are divided (Exo 14:21)
The word for the deep-waters flooding is tehom
Found in Genesis 1:2 covering the globe
Then used for the flood that judged all the wicked (Gen 7:11; 8:2)
In Exodus 15, it's covering Egyptians (v.5)
They get destruction, in death he flushed them
Psalm 74 calls it "head-crushing" (v.13-14)
Through union with Moses, they pass through wrath living
No wonder Paul calls the Exodus a baptism (1 Cor 10:1-6)

[Hook]
Behold Yahweh's waters of judgement
Be full of awe from his justice
When he saves his people, he'll judge his enemies
His acts of judgment have corresponding redemptive deeds
Behold Yahweh's waters of judgement
Be full of awe from his justice
Since his people pass through the water of death then
It's nothing short of a death and a resurrection

[Verse 3]
Jonah 1 records that he abhorred to preach
So from the face of the Lord he flees
The Lord's displeased, he's more than grieved
Like the flood, he brings enormous torrents, the stormy seas
While Jonah's sleeping in the bottom of the ship
The sailor's fear 'cause nearly by the water it was split
Jonah tells 'em that it's really all because of this:
He's running from the face of the living God who does exist
"If I'm tossed in the abyss, his wrath'll calm and it will quit"
So they threw him overboard in flood waters, the abyss
But then he's swallowed by a fish
Which he describes as death 'cause he dropped into the pit
He says he's in Sheol, that's the place of the dead
That word for pit in Psalm 16:10 is "grave" when it's read
But he's Yonah, his name means "dove"
So after three days, he'll be raised from the raging flood
Yo the gender of the fish changes
Why in the world is this? Because the fish is pregnant
'Bout to give new birth
'Cause Jonah's resurrected when he's spit from the fish to earth
Like Noah, once the flood waters died down
And Israel who walked on new creation dry ground
That same word yabashah come to find out
Is what Jonah's standing on 'cause he arised now
What's the point of Christ's stormy seas miracles?
The disciples panic as the Lord's asleep with fearful souls
He arose from sleep hence the sleep of death
To hush the storm of wrath which was appeased and quenched
Then the stormy seas left from the lake
The winds ceased, that's the same word from Genesis 8 (Mk 4:39)
'Cause he's the greater Noah, greater Moses, greater Jonah
Saving us from the lake of fire, Yahweh Jehovah
Who was baptized in the Jordan River
A redemptive historic picture of his death for the sinner
The dove descended on him, this is fact Christian
Mark 10:38 he called his death a baptism
'Cause the only way he's saving us from hell
Is to be baptized by wrath and to take it on himself
The point I bring is that upon the anointed King
End time judgment fell for all who are joined to him
Plus the reason I discuss this
Is 'cause the Bible says the flood's a preview of the final judgment (2 Pet 3:6-7; Matt 24:37-42)
Just as Egyptians were cast into the sea (Exo 15:1)
The wicked will be in the lake with gnashing of teeth (Rev 20:10, 14-15)
Thus your baptism is a water judgment
That's either pointing to all that God the Son did
Or to fall away and to disregard your sonship
Means your baptism points to your awful punishment

[Hook]
Behold Yahweh's waters of judgement
Be full of awe from his justice
When he saves his people, he'll judge his enemies
His acts of judgment have corresponding redemptive deeds
Behold Yahweh's waters of judgement
Be full of awe from his justice
Since his people pass through the water of death then
It's nothing short of a death and a resurrection

[Outro]
The Lord Jesus Christ, Yahweh himself rescues us
Not from the lake of the waters of judgment
But from the lake of fire
