“Dead and Gone” is Stabbing Westward’s first single in nineteen years. The group disbanded in 2002, but reformed in 2016 and, in addition to touring again, began writing new music over a three year period. This led to the January 2020 release of their Dead And Gone EP.
[Verse 1]
I failed to realize I'd found everything in you
And like a fool I took it all for granted
I was too self absorbed to see the pain this put you through
And you don't believe in second chances
[Chorus]
How can I go on
When my last hope is gone?
How can I go on
When my last hope is dead and gone?
[Verse 2]
You were the hope that pulled me through my darkest nights
But every time you needed me I failed you
I no longer want to live the life you've left behind
If it means I must face it without you
[Chorus]
How can I go on
When my last hope is gone?
How can I go on
When my last hope is dead and gone?
Dead and gone
[Bridge]
You told me once I wrote the soundtrack to your life
But I doubt you'll ever hear this song
I'm so scared it might be the last chance I'll ever have
To say I'm sorry I was wrong
[Chorus]
How can I go on
When my last hope is gone?
How can I go on
When my last hope is gone?
How can I go on
When my last hope is gone?
How can I go on
When my last hope is dead and gone?
Dead and gone
Dead and gone, dead and gone
