WELCOME TO CROSSWORD GENIUS!This page is going to go over some quick guidelines for how to use Crossword Genius. As this is a very small community, the rules are very flexible for now, but in general, these are the standards that we should all aspire to.
CREATING A PAGEHere's an example of an ideal page.
- At the top, if applicable, add 'DAILY THEME'.
- Following that, put a picture of the empty puzzle.
- Below that, include the ACROSS and DOWN answers, with appropriate headings. Clues should be numbered. If a clue includes a blank, use a number of '_'s equal to how long the answer is.
- The artist of the page should be the publication that published the puzzle. Usually, this is the New York Times, or another newspaper.
ANNOTATING ANSWERSAnnotations for Crossword Genius should follow the site-wide standards. Here's an example of a good annotation.
- Begin every annotation with 'ANSWER: '
- Put the answer in all caps, with no spaces.
- Try to add relevant information; don't put the answer and nothing else, at least right away.*
- If a clue refers to another clue, embed the other clue in the annotation.
DON'T ADD STUFF RIGHT AWAY- The empty puzzle on the page should be annotated with a complete version; but don't do that right away. Wait a day for people to start on it before adding the complete puzzle.
- *Don't add annotations right away. Wait two days before going in and adding all of the answers. If you add annotations before then, they should have some information: not JUST the answer.
