About

The first half, “Bull,” is a description of watching someone succumb to addiction and the desperation you feel in being helpless to find a reason worthy enough to stop them, while the second half, “Believer,” dips into a memory of ultimate teenage sadness, an elegy for anyone who ever loved a shitty...

Bull Believer Lyrics

[Part I: Bull]

[Verse 1]
Got him right between the shoulders
And the bull loses blood
No fight left to give
Can't pull his head up

[Chorus]
Comfort fools us into faith
Then fate pulls us away again
A corpse with a spirit
Got out of my bed today

[Verse 2]
Bottles call you from their
Seats on the choir riser
Laid on my back in the
Tepid bathtub water

[Chorus]
The ache of the wind on the windows
The blood under the bridge
And the stadium crowd
Charges the bull

[Part II: Believer]

[Verse 1]
Wind changed pitch as the bridge went by
The lightning comes up from the ground and goes up to the sky
Poured one out for all my guys
Thе tiny monuments get propped up on thе roadside

[Chorus]
Believe me
Believer
Believe me
Believer

[Verse 2]
Passed out on a couch at a New Year's party
I sat on the stairs with a never-ending nosebleed
You were playing Mortal Kombat
God, make me good, but not quite yet

[Chorus]
Believe me
Believer
Believe me
Believer

[Outro]
Finish him
Finish him
Finish him
Finish him
Finish him
Finish him
Finish him
Finish him
Finish him
Finish him
Finish him

What have the artists said about this song?

It hurts to play. I’ve kind of gotten more used to it now, but it’s not an easy song to perform. Or just to know that there’s a song that talks about, even vaguely, probably the worst experience of my life. I remember we performed in Knoxville recently and it was right on the anniversary of the thin...

What have the artists said about the music video?

I don’t really know how to do a lot of makeup, but the black lipstick is a way to immediately have a separation between stage me and not stage me. I don’t want to incorporate the person I am on stage that much into my daily life because I think that’s where some weird shit can happen, where my art b...

Why did they choose it as the first single off the album?

It was the only one I could imagine putting out first. I think it just expresses where we are right now the most. I have had a bunch of people telling me that was a crazy move, but it never really fazed me. It was an obvious choice for me.

– Karly Hartzman, Consequence

What did Wednesday say about "Bull Believer"?

It’s a long-ass song, ’cause it takes me a while to prepare myself emotionally to sing the end. Everything leading up to that line is giving myself time to get in the headspace of that night. That New Year’s party was the last time I ever saw my friend who ended up passing away that year. And I have...
