Next door in the vacant lot
Black plastic flapping in a field
Sometimes my anger makes me ill

Invisible in broad daylight

Movin' mouth pluckin' reasons from thin air
I know his past, and I sympathise but I don't care

When we wake in the Winter gloom
Brush his hair, get him dressed for school
His vacant look, his sullen grin

Cheesy chips and a can of European beer
Sprawled around like the ruins of some crime scene
Passed-out in the greenhouse yet again
He was always good at playin' the victim
