‘'Broken Glass’‘ is an emotional track on Boston Manor’s debut album. Vocalist Henry Cox explained the meaning behind the song in an interview with Highwire Daze:
There’s a song called “Broken Glass.” It’s about a friend of mine who nearly died about two years ago now, in a car crash.
[Verse 1]
Tonight's the night to run a red light
Drive past the words and continue despite
Despite what he said
And the fact that he begged you to swallow your pride
Just this once, just this once
[Chorus]
Save tonight, save the show
Broken glass and broken bones
Tonight is all you’ll know
Show them how fast you can go
[Verse 2]
Please slow down, you’ll roll us both over
The last that I heard, hell had froze over
You lost your war, you lost your race
They severed your pride, left a hole in your face
[Chorus]
Save tonight, save the show
Broken glass and broken bones
Tonight is all you’ll know
Show them how fast you can go
[Verse 3]
So just swallow your pride and cover your head
Because you’re in the fast lane to a hospital bed
You risked it all, how fucking dare you still show your face?
(How fucking dare you?)
