Having no money often requires walking home late at night rather than being able to catch a bus, train or taxi. When that happens you are bound to have an encounter and intervention by curious and bored Policemen.
It's two o'clock in the morning
I am tired and I'm depressed
I've had so little sleep this week
I could really do with some rest
Just as I wonder how far I've got to go
A car draws up beside me oh so slow
Chorus:
Yes it's, Bored Policemen oh and they won't leave me alone
Time for them ticks away so slow
Bored Policemen won't let me go home, you know what I mean?
They ask you stupid questions
That demands only stupid replies
Some of them are truthful
But a lot of them are lies
It's best to be polite and don't cause a fuss
Or you may end up being done on suss because
Bored Policemen, oh they ain't easily amused
They don't need to be abused
Bored Policemen will use any excuse, you know what I mean?
Live, live and let live, but you won't let me live this way
I said live, live and let live, but you won't let me live this way
You won't let me live this way
But don't you know?
I realise you've got nothing to do
And I am just a source of amusement to you
You sit there and waste my time
While someone somewhere is committing a serious crime
Why don't you let me go home?
Why don't you let me go home? (2)
It's three o'clock in the morning
I am tired, I could do with some rest
I've been stopped so many times this week
I'm beginning to feel just a little depressed
Just as I turn the last corner for home
A car pulls up beside me oh so slow, yes it's
Chorus:
More Policemen. And they won't let me go home
Time for them ticks away so slow
Bored Policemen won't let me go home
I just wanna go home
Why don't you let me go home (2)
