Better

Running low on confidence
Truly gave my all for this and failed
Oh, how I watched the train derail itself
It was supposed to be so much easier than this
At least that’s what we thought when we were kids

Aren’t I on top of the world?
Aren’t I the man I’ve always wanted to be?
I’ve been taking my time
These are the things I think about lately

Today I lost another friend
Seems like all the ones I love like the season’s change
I just want to feel again
I just want to be loved
Not just going through the motions
And sweeping it under the rug

There were better days when we were younger
(Aren’t I on top of the world?)
And it was simple. (?)
(Aren’t I the man I’ve always wanted to be?)
But now we’re growing older
(I’ve been taking my time,)
I have lost all my control
