Back On the Farm

The plane is landing
Same old gate
Pulled out the keys
Walked to the parking lot
I started driving

I finally get what arrival means
Highway driving home to see

Couple hours from the city

Turn off the highway
Down the gravel lane
The dogs will bark
Always the same
The light from the barn
Dancing shadows on the house
Warm glow from the kitchen
The porch wraps around

Back on the farm
Watching birds fly above the bulrush
Setting sun feel the air cool down

Through the screen door the radio sounds
