This one-movement orchestral tone poem was inspired by Gershwin’s travels in Paris. It premiered in New York in December 1928, conducted by Walter Damrosch. Amid the orchestral instruments, the piece also calls for car horns. For the premiere, Gershwin brought taxi horns from Paris to be played.
