[Verse 1]
An alligator in my yard
Avoid her eyes, it isn't hard
To speculate where she has been
Through all the seas and now machines
A million years, the same old shit
And here we are to ruin it
[Chorus]
She hides so well and slides out of the mud
Rolling around, I'd never seen so much blood
Before we could talk, we were halfway up the sky
With you and your friends and that guy there and I
[Verse 2]
Ignore the signs and feed the birds
Do what you want, they're only words
Of all the things that have occurred
Here we are to ruin it
[Chorus]
She hides so well and slides out of the mud
Rolling around, I'd never seen so much blood
Before we could talk, we were halfway up the sky
With you and your friends and that guy there and I

Lead singer Sam Cromack joked in a Facebook Q&A that the inspiration for the song came from the Grizzly Bear song of the same name. “But yeah, just realising that we’ve got nothing against nature and that nature is beautiful,” Cromack said.
