“Agent Zero” is written about former NBA star Gilbert Arenas who wore number zero for most of his NBA career and shares his nickname with the song title.
In 2011, the band told the Hamilton Spectator that the they wanted to:
to have a song that was a profile piece on an athlete… Everything he had...
[Verse 1]
I used to find a little peace in the lay up line
When I start sweating I start to unwind
I used to find a little peace under the bright lights
When I start sweating I start to unwind
A little came to me in 1985
We got in the car and started to drive
We headed West but Overtown behind
Dad was looking for the Hollywood sign
[Chorus]
There was a time when I could only impress you
You can tell by now that I'm only guessing
[Verse 2]
They kept asking me to describe
The logic that was running through my mind
Ali had Cosell through hard times
But Wilbon on this one, has to decline
[Chorus]
There was a time when I could only impress you
You can tell by now that I'm only guessing
If you say that the clocks run down
And the red lights glowing
If your mind's made up then I'll get going
[Outro]
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
So turn all the lights down low
