Like a whisper in the rain
I went my solitary way
To sleep under neon stars
To taste the mountain air
To venture onward unremitting
And forget the world

The melody repeats
The notes blend together
To wash my havocked mind
But a dissonance remains

And the earth moved
And the red sky opened

And the smell of blood
The cold touch of metal
The words that you spoke
And the thousands that you could not
Will haunt me forever
