A Poem for Alicia

I saw her in the newspaper
A subtle breath of hair
A wisp of intense clarity

A swish, a sparkle, a glint
Shining, magical spirit
Awakening, dull, slothful
Fairly dead to the world

I looked upon her soft, soft face
She carved my sickful soul
With sweeping sabres
Silent swords
Until cracked, sharp

A ray of sunshine
Struck
Snakes in my mind, slipped away
Energetic rhythms erupted
Simultaneous thoughts of beautiful women
From my youth, my past

Suddenly alive
