‘A Dream of You’ is a song about feelings of abandonment in general, with the inspiration for the lyrics stemming from Joel Johnston (Far Caspian’s frontman)’s experiences as the youngest of five brothers and the feelings that came with each of his older brothers leaving home.
[Verse 1]
Could you be wrong about the night?
While dreamin' of the day
I stopped to take in what was mine
So terrified by nothin'
Wavin' my hand out into the road
Makin' your plans, oh, I never know
[Verse 2]
Could you be wrong about the light?
While tryin' to make your way
I hold your hand and you hold mine
So terrified by nothin'
Wavin' my hand out into the road
Makin' your plans, oh, I never know
[Chorus]
Oh, so terrified, I've felt it all before
I already know
I'm runnin' for my life, I've let it in so long
It's takin' its toll
Holdin' onto time, oh, everything must go
I already know
All with sacrifice, I let them move on
[Outro]
Oh, so terrified, I've felt it all before
I already know
Oh, so terrified, I've felt it all before
I already know
