About

It is very often mistaken that this song is about the death of Ian Curtis. It is in fact, not. The early demo of this song was recorded about a year before Curtis' death. It is, however, about suicide, inspired by a suicide attempt made by a friend of Bono’s friend.

A Day Without Me Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Started a landslide in my ego
Looked from the outside to the world I left behind
I'm dreaming, you're awake
If I were sleeping, what's at stake?

[Refrain]
A day without me

[Verse 2]
Whatever the feelings, I keep feeling
What are the feelings you left behind?

[Guitar Solo]

[Refrain]
Today's a day without me

[Verse 3]
I started a landslide in my ego
Looked from the outside to the world I left behind
In the world I left behind
Wipe their eyes and then let go
In the world I left behind
Shed a tear and let love go
