Traci Lords is an American actress, singer, model, writer, producer, and director. She is notoriously known for her past in porn industry when she appeared underage in dozens of hardcore films in the 1980s. She’s been labeled as one of the most successful porn stars who crossovered to mainstream media.
She first ventured into music in 1989 after working on John Waters' musical comedy Cry-Baby (1990). After providing vocals for Manic Street Preachers‘ song “Little Baby Nothing”, she signed a development deal with Capitol Records which was later dropped due to disagreements between her and the label.
In 1992, Gary Kurfirst signed Lords to his label Radioactive Records on which she released her debut studio album 1000 Fires (1995). Despite the poor commercial performance of the album, 1000 Fires received positive reviews from critics and the lead single “Control” peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
