The Elijah was a post-hardcore band from Oswestry, UK, formed in 2008. The band released two EPs named The Ground We Stand On in 2008 and A Son: A Disease in 2010, as well as their only full-length I Loved I Hated I Destroyed I Created in 2012, which was recorded in the large room portrayed on the album cover to allow the natural acoustics to enhance the sound. A year after the release of ILIHIDIC, in September, 2013, the band announced that they were breaking up.
The Elijah was known for their heavy incorporation of orchestral elements, arranged by guitarist Sean Harrison, and the contrasting blend between delicate singing and raw screaming. Despite the limited size of their discography, the band still managed to rally tons of fans from around the world, and before officially splitting up, the band put on one last show on September 15, 2013, accompanied by a small philharmonic orchestra on stage who helped perform ILIHIDIC in full.
Sean Harrison later went on to become an aspiring composer, and guitarist/singer Michael McGough joined Being as an Ocean in 2013, filling in the same roles as he did in The Elijah.
The final line-up consisted of screamer and lyricist Daniel Tomley, guitarist and singer Michael McGough, guitarist and composer Sean Harrison, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Jakub Taylor.
