The show is hosted by Sway Calloway together with Heather B. and Tracy G.

Sway in the Morning is well-known for its popular freestyle segment, The 5 Fingers of Death, in which artists rap over five (give or take, depending how you fare) beats to see if they can “walk the walk,” as Sway puts it. Rappers who perform the best freestyles on the show are called “hyenas” and the show’s committed fans are called “the citizens”.
