Shaun Lloyd Lewis (15 February 1984—19 February 2018), better known as Stormin, was an MC from Plaistow, Newham, East London, with family roots in Clarendon, Jamaica. He was best known for his role in the pioneering grime collectives East Connection and N.A.S.T.Y. Crew, his involvement in the jump up D&B group SaSaSaS, and his secretive dancehall-tinged alter ego Teddy Bruckshot. He was also the older brother of Black Steve.
In the late 1990s, he was diagnosed with lupus. His continued exposure to sunlight over the years led to this deteriorating into stage two squamous cell cancer in 2016. In his final months, he still played shows on a weekly basis, but covered himself up with durags, towels and bandanas, coining the phrase ‘Towel Gang’. In February 2018, he moved to a hospice, and married his partner Kat Romain the same week. On 19 February, 2018, he lost his battle with cancer. RIP to a legend.
