Sol Jimenez (born June 16, 2001), popularly known as Sol Jay, is an American hip-hop artist and singer, from San Francisco, California. At the age of 13, his father gifted him Ableton Live, a software sequencer which helped Sol Jay discover his iconic emo trap and lo-fi recording style. By the age of 16, he had established a career as a full time hip-hop artist.

Early into Sol Jay’s career, he would be approached by then 14 year-old, New Jersey native, Action Doxx. Sol describes seeing potential in the rapper’s delivery and agreed to feature on an upcoming song of his which would later be known as “shefromthecity”. This song was a career defining moment for Sol Jay as it began to gain traction in 2017 due to it’s sad trap inspired vocals from larger artists at the time like Trippie Redd and Lil Uzi Vert.

After establishing himself as a reputable and consistent SoundCloud artist, Sol Jay’s life would be changed forever on July 27th, 2019 when he he would be the victim of a brutal car accident in which he was not expected to survive. His outlook on life greatly changed after he had made a full recovery and soon Sol Jay would see himself appreciate what he had and undergo great emotional growth. This new found enlightenment would lead Sol Jay down a path to an even more successful career

Ever since the earliest song to be released on his SoundCloud titled “Ride My Wave”, Sol Jay’s song art has always been stylized with the color purple, Sol Jay explained once he had dropped “Ride My Wave”, he knew he would begin to stylize his career off of an all purple color scheme, this theme would represent royalty and power, two things that purple commonly represents in media and storytelling.

The concept of royalty in Sol Jay’s music would be elevated once he had released his debut project titled, #UNDERGROUNDKINGS on December 27th, 2019. The album consisted of 16 tracks assisted by at least one other fellow underground artist on each track. The title originates from Sol Jay’s love of royalty and the dream of one day creating a collaboration tape between the underground rap community. Sol Jay’s inspiration would also arise from listening to “Under Ground Kings” by Canadian rapper, Drake. Once listening to the track he realized his self worth and began to construct the vision for his first project.

Sol Jay currently creates music in St. George, Utah and shows no sign of giving up on chasing his dream. Determination and passion is what lead Sol Jay to where he is and life and it’s clear that this mindset is what keeps him consistently breaking expectations.
