About Slaves (USA)

Slaves is an American post-hardcore group formed in Sacramento, California. The band previously consisted of lead vocalist Jonny Craig, formerly of Emarosa and Dance Gavin Dance; bassist Colin Vieira of Musical Charis; guitarists Weston Richmond and Felipe Sanchez; and drummer Zack Baker.

In early 2019, Slaves announced Jonny Craig’s departure due to having a relapse. You can read the band’s statement here and Jonny’s here. The Voice singer-songwriter Matt McAndrew was replacing him on tour but, with Slaves' new single “Heavier,” it was confirmed that he would be the band’s new vocalist.

On October 15th, 2021, the band announced that their new band name would be “Rain City” in reference to Manchester, England where the five members first met after the departure of Jonny Craig. The band’s name was amended again on November 12th to “Rain City Drive”, likely to prevent any further name changes.
