About Riders in the Sky

Formed in 1977, Riders In The Sky carry on the legacy of Western music established by the likes of Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, The Sons of The Pioneers, and dozens of others from the 1930s to the early 1960s. Comprised of “Ranger Doug” B. Green, Fred “Too Slim” LaBour, “Woody Paul” Chrisman, and Joey “The Cow-Polka King” Miskulin, this quartet has released over 35 albums, starred in three television series (along with countless guest appearances on programs such as Hee Haw and Nashville Now), and created the critically-acclaimed syndicated variety show Riders Radio Theater (1988-1995). The Riders achieved mainstream attention when they were approached by PIXAR to perform “Woody’s Round-Up”, a song featured in their then-upcoming film Toy Story 2. This led to the Riders developing an entire album based on the film’s characters, which won a Grammy for Best Musical Album For Children in 2001, and marked the first of many collaborations between the band and Disney.
