Ricky Ian Gordon is a leading composer of opera, art song, and musical theater. His art song works include a cycle of songs set to the poetry of Langston Hughes as well as Green Sneakers, inspired by the death of his life partner from AIDS. For the stage, he has composed the musical My Life With Albertine as well as the operas The Grapes of Wrath, Twenty-Seven, and A Coffin in Egypt.
