About Ramin Karimloo

Ramin Karimloo (born September 19, 1978) is an Iranian-Canadian actor and singer best known for playing the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies, and Jean Valjean and Enjolras in Les Misérables. He is currently playing the role of General Gleb Vagonov in Anastasia at Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre, which opened April 24, 2017.

In 2010, Karimloo played Enjolras in the recorded staging of the 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Misérables at The O2 Arena in London for a crowd of 32,000. Karimloo also starred in the 25th Anniversary Production of The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall opposite his Love Never Dies co-star Sierra Boggess, which was streamed live to cinemas across the world.

Influenced by the lives of Johnny Cash and The Avett Brothers, Karimloo blends bluegrass and Broadway on his own releases, coining it “Broadgrass”.

I wanted to marry the sounds of rock and country with things that people already know me for. […] I have a huge love for country and bluegrass, I love rock ’n’ roll, and I love what I’m doing in musical theatre, so the key was how to balance and blend them all.
