Omega is a Hungarian rock group, formed in Budapest in 1962. Initially they were performing mostly covers of British and American rock songs and the line-up was frequently changing.
In 1971 the current line-up was formed, which remained the same for over 30 years:
János Kóbor (“Mecky”), lead vocals
György Molnár (“Elefánt”), guitars
László Benkő (“Laci”), keyboards, vocals
Tamás Mihály (“Misi”), bass, vocals
Ferenc Debreceni (“Ciki”), drums.
First albums were heavily influenced by the music of The Beatles and psychedelic rock, but later the band’s style turned more towards hard rock, progressive rock and space rock.
To date they have released 18 Hungarian language albums, 10 English language albums and one album in German.
