About Mattias Alkberg

Mattias Alkberg, born January 8, 1969 in Boden, Sweden, is a Swedish musician, song writer and poet. In the early 1980s, he played drums in the hardcore band “Joon Erektion”. He’s the guitarist and singer in the indie rock band “The Bear Quartet”, making its debut in 1992. Alkberg published his first collection of poems the same year: “Separerade ägg” (Separated Eggs). His Swedish orchestra “Mattias Alkberg BD” had some success in 2004 when their first album was released.

Alkberg has published five collections of poems through the publisher “Wahlström & Widstrand”. His music is published by “Teg Publishing”. He received a prize in 2004 from The Swedish Academy, one of Sweden’s Royal Academies.

He grew up in the area of Tuna in Luleå, Sweden, but today lives in Svartöstaden.
