About Leroy Carr

Leroy Carr was an American blues singer, songwriter and pianist, born on March 27 1905 in Tennessee. Leroy lived in Indianapolis for most of his life.

His work influenced artists such as Ray Charles, Nat King Cole and Charles Brown, mostly with his piano style. His popularity and famous songs resulted in numerous of covers by artists such as Eric Clapton and Robert Johnson.

Leroy Carr died at the age of 30 of nephritis, caused by alcoholism.
