About Koshir

Koshir, real name Kielan Brett Franklin born February 28, 1986, is a rapper from Anchorage, Alaska, now located in Missoula, Montana, signed to Mad Insanity Records. He is often called “just cocky, no style” by his haters. This is because he is quite strange and isn’t sacred to show himself for who he is, even making a song about his foot fetish. His early life was filled with stress, as his family was forced forced to relocate several times for the reason that his parents were fighting. Eventually, he moved to a prominently white neighborhood where he was the only mixed race, and he got a lot of flak for it. One day when his mom was chasing him around with a belt, he threatened to pull out a knife, resulting in him getting arrested. Th is is when he started a cycle of crime and detention centers, starting with petty crimes to more serious offenses. Then, after about a decade of turmoil, at 19 he decided to enroll into Mesa State College of Colorado. Three months in, a friend introduced him to Tech N9ne and Koshir life soon became fueled by music, and he started valuing music over college, resulting in his first release, Garbage, released in 2008, which featured Conceit, Overtime, Young Jay, Gonzo Dacompo, Mac Moore, A-Kream, Lil Al, Olin, Katie Henson, Blaq Santa, Frodie Wapikiya, and Tiger T. This tape gained a lot of buzz in the region, resulting in him putting out an edgier tape in 2009, released under coast2coast mixtapes, Illy Wonka & The Pilly Poppin' Factory, featuring Mista Snipe, Conceit, Young Jay, Cordell Drake, Mac Roe, and Supa Saa. With all this hard work paid off, the result was in him getting signed to Wapikiya Records and releasing White Girl Diaries, an album featuring much more well known artists. This featured Katie Henson, Conceit, Luni Coleone, Blaq Santa, Krizz Kaliko, DJ Dice, Tascha Jean, DuBBle00, Young Jay, Kutt Calhoun, Potluck, and Holy Fam. He also dropped his second mixtape under coast2coast, Muffin Man, featuring Young Jay, Tawni, ZBO, Cordell Drake, Conceit, JL, Mel Balu, and Frodie Wapikiya. Soon after, in 2012 he had been released early from Wapikiya Records due to having differences with the label. He also had a daughter, Lyric, in early 2013. In the middle of that same year, he joined up with Mad Insanity Records, the label started by Mars. Under this, with the help of Thump Records and Neurotic Records, he released his sophomore album “Ugly ft. Syko, Meezilini Da Bank'roll, Kung Fu Vampire, Conceit, Alonzo Mack, Mr. Blacc, Mars, Young Jay, Blaq Santa, Frodie Wapikiya, JL, Overtime, Wildcard, Cordell Drake, Stevie Stone, Krown Royal, and Twisted Insane, once again reaching out to well-respected artists of the underground. He was also featured on Kung Fu Vampire’s Knockturnal Tunna Beats remix off of Re-Animated, and two of Mars' songs, Every Bitch In The World from Glockcoma and Cum Closer off the Murder EP. On Halloween of 2016, he released the Chew Your Food EP, ft. Mistah Fab, Kxng Crooked, C. Ray and his old friend JL.
